Bangura Urges APC Supporters To Reconcile After Internal Elections

APC flagbearer aspirant Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has called for unity, discipline and mutual respect among members of the All People’s Congress (APC), as he engaged party stakeholders and traditional leaders in Port Loko District.

Dr. Bangura made the call on Monday, October 5, 2026, during engagements with APC stakeholders in Port Loko City, where he congratulated candidates who emerged victorious in the party’s recent constituency elections while encouraging those who were unsuccessful not to allow the outcome of the internal contests to create lasting divisions.

According to the DIB Movement Media and Communications Team, Dr. Bangura described Port Loko as an important constituency in the history and future of the APC and urged party members to see one another as members of the same political family regardless of their preferred candidates during the internal electoral processes.

He called on stakeholders to work collectively to preserve peace within the party and urged delegates to respect one another as the APC continues its internal electoral processes leading towards the National Delegates Convention.

Speaking about his own ambition to lead the APC into the 2028 elections, Dr. Bangura said he remained confident about his prospects, attributing his confidence to what he described as deliberate planning, hard work and a structured campaign strategy.

He, however, stressed that his ambition was not driven by arrogance, saying his broader objective was to unite the party and bring together supporters across different factions ahead of the 2028 elections.

Dr. Bangura said he wanted an APC that would emerge from its National Delegates Convention stronger, more united and more disciplined, while emphasising the need for party members to prioritise the collective interest of the organisation over internal differences.

The engagement also saw Dr. Bangura pay courtesy calls on Paramount Chief Bai Forkie Fainka II of Maforkie Chiefdom and Paramount Chief Adekalie Mella III of Bakeh Loko Chiefdom.

During the visits, the APC aspirant reaffirmed his respect for traditional institutions, elders, culture and customary leadership, describing engagement with traditional authorities as an important part of his political outreach.

Paramount Chief Bai Forkie Fainka II commended Dr. Bangura for paying the courtesy call and described the gesture as one that should be sustained. He welcomed the aspirant and assured him that his doors would remain open.

Responding, Dr. Bangura said his decision to visit the Paramount Chief was motivated by his respect for traditional leadership and Sierra Leone’s cultural institutions. He also acknowledged Port Loko’s contribution to the country’s political development.

At Bakeh Loko Chiefdom, Paramount Chief Adekalie Mella III similarly welcomed Dr. Bangura and expressed appreciation for the visit, describing him as the first APC flagbearer aspirant to pay him a courtesy call.

The Paramount Chief subsequently prayed for and blessed Dr. Bangura, wishing him success in his political endeavours.

The Port Loko engagement forms part of Dr. Bangura’s wider grassroots outreach as APC members continue preparations for the party’s internal processes ahead of the 2028 general elections. The APC is currently concluding outstanding constituency-level electoral activities as it progresses towards its National Delegates Conference.

The DIB Movement said the engagements in Port Loko further reflected Dr. Bangura’s emphasis on an inclusive political approach, with the aspirant urging party members across different alignments to work together and maintain peaceful relations within the APC.

The movement’s stated message throughout the engagement was centred on unity, respect for institutions and the need to strengthen the party ahead of the next phase of its internal political process.
