APC flagbearer aspirant Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has called on Sierra Leoneans to look to the Supreme Court for clarity, courage and constitutional fidelity as the Court hears matters surrounding the Constitutional Amendment Act and the controversy over the two-thirds majority requirement.
Dr. Bangura made the call in a statement posted on his X account, @dibrahimbangura, as the Supreme Court proceedings got underway.
“Today, Sierra Leone stands at a defining constitutional moment,” Dr. Bangura stated, adding that the proceedings were not simply a legal contest but a test of the country’s commitment to democracy, the rule of law and the sanctity of the Constitution.
He said he was confident that the learned Justices would rise above political considerations and deliver a judgment guided by the law and the national interest.
According to the APC flagbearer aspirant, the Court’s decision will help shape the future of governance in Sierra Leone and strengthen public trust in the country’s institutions.
Dr. Bangura also appealed for the constitutional process to be allowed to run its course, stressing the importance of justice and the supremacy of the Constitution.
“May justice prevail. May the Constitution stand. May Sierra Leone win,” he wrote.
