The signing ceremony was held in Freetown today, with SLFA Vice President 1, Alie Badara Tarawallie, representing the football association.
The event was witnessed by key government and sporting stakeholders including the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima; Minister of Youth Affairs, Ibrahim Sannoh; Executive Director of the National Sports Authority, Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq.; and Chairman of the Leone Premier League Board, Osman Tommy.
This marks the fourth consecutive season that Leone Rock Metal Group – one of the country’s largest mining companies operating in Tonkolili District – has sponsored the top-flight league.
According to the SLFA, the value of the sponsorship has increased in each of the four seasons, underscoring the growing strength of the partnership and the company’s sustained commitment to domestic football development.
The funding will support the organisation and delivery of the new Premier League season, which is expected to kick off next month, and will contribute to efforts to improve professionalism, sustainability and competitiveness in the league.
In a statement, the SLFA expressed appreciation to Leone Rock Metal Group for its continued confidence in Sierra Leone football, noting that the partnership has been crucial in stabilizing the league and attracting more private sector involvement in the game.
