Sierra Leone, International Vaccine Institute Discuss Expansion Of Health Partnership

Sierra Leone is seeking to deepen its partnership with the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) following talks between the country’s Ambassador to South Korea, Paul Sobba Massaquoi, and officials of the global health organisation in Seoul.

The discussions took place during a visit by Ambassador Massaquoi to IVI’s headquarters, where he met the institute’s Director-General, Dr Jerome Kim, to review its ongoing work in Sierra Leone and explore opportunities to expand cooperation in the coming years.

In a statement published on Thursday, IVI said the meeting focused on its activities in Sierra Leone and ways to strengthen the partnership.

The engagement comes as Sierra Leone continues to pursue international partnerships aimed at strengthening its healthcare system, improving disease prevention and expanding access to medical research and vaccine-related interventions.

IVI is an international organisation dedicated to discovering, developing and delivering safe, effective and affordable vaccines, particularly for populations in developing countries.

The institute’s engagement with Sierra Leone provides an avenue for scientific cooperation and potential expansion of vaccine research and public health initiatives.

Neither organisation disclosed specific new agreements or funding commitments arising from the meeting.

However, both sides expressed interest in building on existing cooperation and identifying opportunities for a broader partnership in the years ahead.
