The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) is expected to deliver its judgment today in the long-running dispute between the All People’s Congress (APC) and former Vice President, Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam-Sumana.
The case centers on Sam-Sumana’s expulsion from the APC several years ago and the controversy surrounding his alleged reinstatement into the party. Sam-Sumana had petitioned the PPRC, challenging the legality of the party’s internal processes and raising questions over his membership status and political rights within the APC.
Over the course of several hearings, the Commission listened to submissions from both parties, including testimonies and documentary evidence relating to decisions taken by the APC’s leadership organs.
Today’s judgment is expected to clarify whether due process was followed by the APC and could have significant implications for internal party governance and future political alignments ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
All parties involved are expected to respond to the Commission’s ruling once it is formally delivered.
