The Dr. Ibrahim Bangura (DIB) Movement has called on members and supporters of the All Peoples Congress (APC) to maintain peace, unity and decorum as the party continues its internal electoral process.
In a statement dated March 9, 2026, the movement urged party members to uphold democratic values and avoid actions that could create division during the exercise. The statement, issued by the Communications Team of the DIB Movement, emphasised the need for respectful engagement among supporters of different candidates.
According to the statement, internal elections within the party should serve as an opportunity to strengthen unity, deepen democratic principles and promote mutual respect among members working toward a common goal.
The movement acknowledged that debate and competition are natural parts of any democratic process but stressed that such engagements must remain constructive and respectful.
It noted with concern that some exchanges among supporters had recently become confrontational, including attacks and negative comments directed at fellow party members and supporters of other candidates. The group warned that such conduct does not reflect the values the party stands for.
The DIB Movement therefore urged supporters and well-wishers to refrain from attacking, insulting or provoking other members, whether during meetings, in person or on social media platforms.
It further encouraged members to remain calm and uphold the principles of peace, discipline and mutual respect throughout the electoral process, noting that all participants remain members of the same party regardless of the outcome of the contest.
The movement also advised supporters to promote their preferred candidates through ideas, policies and positive engagement rather than hostility or divisive rhetoric.
According to the statement, the strength of the party lies in its ability to compete with dignity and emerge from internal contests even more united.
Reaffirming its commitment to a peaceful and credible internal election, the DIB Movement expressed confidence that with cooperation from all members, the process would further strengthen the party and its democratic traditions.
The group also thanked the wider membership of the party for their continued dedication and commitment to maintaining peace and unity within the APC.
