A military officer identified as Kamanda has died at the Pujehun Government Hospital following a serious road accident involving an RSLAF vehicle in Pujehun District.
The vehicle, attached to the 14th Infantry Battalion and bearing registration number CO14 BAN 72SL57, overturned near the Pujehun Central Mosque, opposite the FOCUS1000 office.
The incident occurred as security personnel, including members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces and the Sierra Leone Police, were returning to their barracks after providing security coverage for the ongoing APC Constituency 100 election activities at the party office in Pujehun Town.
Several military and police personnel sustained serious injuries in the accident and were rushed to the Pujehun Government Hospital for treatment.
Officer Kamanda, who was among those injured, later succumbed to his injuries.
Further details on the condition of the other injured personnel and the circumstances surrounding the accident are expected as investigations continue.
