APC Rejoins Electoral Engagement Platform Through PPLC

Sierra Leone’s leading opposition party, the All People’s Congress, has resumed participation in the Political Parties Liaison Committee (PPLC), marking its return to the country’s electoral engagement process after a period away from the platform.

The meeting, convened on Thursday by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone, gathered political parties and other stakeholders to discuss cooperation, democratic governance, and preparations for peaceful and transparent elections.

According to a statement issued by the Commission, the APC’s attendance reflects its readiness to re-engage with the electoral process and work alongside the ECSL.

“The presence and participation of the All People’s Congress (APC) party in today’s PPLC meeting manifest the commitment to resume its participation in the electoral process and partnership with the ECSL,” the Commission stated, noting that the Chief Electoral Commissioner publicly welcomed the move.

The PPLC provides a forum for political parties to interact with the electoral body on matters concerning election preparedness, transparency, and the prevention of electoral conflicts.

Observers view the APC’s return as a significant development that could contribute to broader political dialogue and cooperation within Sierra Leone’s democratic space.
