BREAKING: Court Nullifies PDP’s 2025 Convention, Orders Caretaker Committee to Take Charge

The Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, has nullified the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held on November 15, 2025.

The court also issued an order barring Turaki and other officials elected at the said convention from parading themselves as the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

Delivering the judgment on Monday, the presiding judge held that the convention was fundamentally flawed and did not comply with critical provisions of the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.

Consequently, the court ruled that the party’s affairs must revert to a Caretaker Committee.

The court specifically recognised and validated the Caretaker Committee led by Alhaji Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the only lawful national executive body to manage the PDP’s affairs.

This committee is now mandated to steer the party pending the organization and conduct of a fresh, legally valid National Convention.

The suit was filed by a faction of the party loyal to former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, which had challenged the legitimacy of the convention process, citing exclusion, procedural breaches, and a lack of proper accreditation for delegates.
