The All People’s Congress (APC) is conducting the funeral of its National Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, today, 22nd June 2026. The burial is the culmination of several days of solemn commemorative events drawing party faithful, supporters, and dignitaries from across Sierra Leone.
Mansaray passed away on June 15 in Dakar, Senegal. His remains were repatriated on June 19, arriving at Lungi International Airport, where they were received by his family, APC leaders, and well-wishers. The body was subsequently transported to Freetown via Port Loko, accompanied by grieving sympathizers along the route.
On June 21, the party leadership paid a formal condolence call to the bereaved family, followed by a Party Laying-Out Ceremony held at the APC National Secretariat.
The culminating day of tributes began this morning with a Lying-in-State at the House of Parliament and a Civic Laying-Out Ceremony at Freetown City Council. Janaza (funeral) prayers are scheduled for this afternoon at Hamdallah Mosque on Naimbana Street, after which Mansaray will be interred at Kingtom Cemetery.
Following the burial, a public reception (repast) will be hosted at Freetown City Council, while party members are expected to gather at the APC Secretariat.
In an official statement, APC National Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya, Esq., extended appreciation to everyone who offered condolences and support throughout the mourning period. The party concluded with a prayer: “May Allah forgive his shortcomings, shower His mercy upon him, and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.”
