Court Commits ‘Mende Boy’ To High Court Over Alleged Murder Of First Lady’s Aide

A 28-year-old unemployed man, Sam Momoh, popularly known as “Mende Boy,” has been committed to the High Court by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown over the alleged murder of Joshua Mansaray, a staff member attached to the Office of the First Lady and her adopted son.

Momoh is facing two counts bordering on conspiracy and murder. The charges were brought under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, as repealed and replaced by the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, 2021.

According to the charge sheet, the incident occurred on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Lodge Junction, Kingharman Road in the Western Urban Area of Freetown. Prosecutors alleged that the accused conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony, specifically the unlawful killing of the victim.

The second count further states that on the same date and at the same location, Momoh allegedly murdered Joshua Mansaray. When the charges were read and explained in court, no plea was taken from the accused.

During the committal proceedings, the prosecution, led by Chief Superintendent of Police Tommy B. Zizer Esq., presented its case, calling witnesses to establish a prima facie case against the defendant. Detective Police Constable 8826 Sulaiman Mukeh also testified as part of the prosecution’s evidence.

After reviewing the evidence presented at the preliminary stage, Magistrate Jah ruled that the matter should proceed to the High Court for full trial.

The case is expected to continue before the High Court, where the accused will face trial on the charges brought against him.
