Transnational (SL) Limited, operators of DStv in Sierra Leone, has announced a major restructuring of its subscription packages, introducing four new affordable options for households across the country.
The new packages were unveiled on Wednesday 5th November, 2026, at a ceremony held at Country Lodge Hotel, Hill Station in Freetown.
Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Limited, Natalia Abboud, said the restructuring marks the beginning of a new era for African entertainment following the acquisition of MultiChoice by CANAL+ last year.
“Last year in an unprecedented strategic move, CANAL+ acquired MultiChoice, bringing together two major players in the entertainment industry to form one of the most powerful entertainment companies in the world,” she said.
Abboud said the acquisition brings together CANAL+’s global reach and content relationships with MultiChoice’s more than 30 years of experience in African markets.
The Four New Packages
The company said it has simplified its bouquet into four packages with new names and reduced prices:
– DStv Starter (formerly DStv Access) – Le 130 per month
– DStv Select (formerly DStv Family) – Le 260 per month
– DStv Sports (formerly DStv Compact) – SLE 442 per month
– DStv Ultimate (formerly Compact Plus & Premium) – SLE 910 per month
According to Abboud, the new packages offer more content and greater value at more accessible prices.
The Starter package now includes additional channels such as the new SuperSport KICKOFF channel, Premier League Match of the Week, LaLiga, M-Net Legends and Star Life.
Select offers family entertainment including M-Net Movies+, Novelas+, Telemundo, Serie A, Betway PSL, and kids channels like Nickelodeon.
Sports covers every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match, cricket, selected international club rugby, WWE, and UFC, plus all general entertainment channels on Select.
Ultimate, the most comprehensive package, combines everything on Sports with premium sport including Formula 1, MotoGP, ATP Tennis, PGA Golf, and flagship M-Net entertainment.
Abboud said the changes reflect the company’s commitment to respond to the financial realities of customers.
“African storytelling remains at the heart of what we do. Our commitment is to bring African entertainment to Africa and the world, alongside leading international content and outstanding live sports,” she said.
Beyond packages, the company also announced plans to improve decoder technology with a new smaller 60-centimetre satellite dish which will be more affordable, portable, and provide improved signal reception.
Chairman of Transnational Limited, Adonis B. Abboud, described the launch as another significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s broadcasting history, noting that it will dispel the belief that DStv is unaffordable.
He disclosed that the launch was done simultaneously in 50 African countries, describing it as a continent-wide development in entertainment provision.
DStv remains the leading pay-TV provider in Sierra Leone, with thousands of subscribers, although it has faced complaints over pricing amid the current economic challenges and competition from other providers and streaming platforms.
