Former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma is expected to attend this weekend’s ECOWAS Summit following the government’s decision to discontinue all treason-related charges against him.
The development comes after the Attorney General formally withdrew the charges linked to the failed November 2023 coup attempt, effectively ending the criminal case against the former president.
Koroma’s expected attendance at the regional summit is being viewed as a significant moment for national reconciliation and political stability. It will also mark one of his first major public appearances since leaving Sierra Leone for medical treatment in Nigeria.
