All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant, Ibrahim Bangura, has gained a major boost in his campaign as regional strongwoman Finda Diana Konomanyi publicly endorsed him during a vibrant DIB Movement meeting held in Kailahun Town on Monday. The gathering, attended by party executives, newly elected ward chairpersons, and regional stakeholders, reflected the growing momentum behind Bangura’s bid for the party’s 2028 flagbearer position.
In his keynote address, Bangura paid tribute to Kailahun’s history, calling for a moment of silence to mark the anniversary of the Sierra Leone Civil War, which began in the district on March 23, 1991. Drawing from his academic research on women in peacebuilding, he highlighted his personal connection to the district, describing Kailahun as a place “that holds a special place in my heart.”
Bangura commended former President Ernest Bai Koroma for infrastructural projects, particularly improvements to the road network connecting Kailahun to other regions. He also urged party supporters to maintain focus, discipline, and unity as the APC positions itself ahead of the 2028 general elections.
APC Regional Chairman Stanley Moiwo Maya Kaikai, who hosted the meeting, welcomed Bangura and reaffirmed Kailahun’s full support for his leadership ambitions. Kaikai praised the aspirant’s commitment to party values and encouraged delegates to remain actively involved in the party’s preparations for the next election cycle.
The highlight of the event came when Konomanyi publicly declared her backing for Bangura, urging delegates to prioritize humility, capacity, and quality leadership in selecting the APC flagbearer. She described Bangura as a candidate who embodies these qualities and has the experience and vision to lead the party to future success.
Throughout the meeting, Bangura engaged directly with attendees, listening to their concerns and emphasizing his plans for inclusive leadership. He called for sacrifice and dedication from party faithful, highlighting that the party’s strength lies in the discipline and commitment of its supporters.
The gathering concluded with renewed calls for unity and focus, signaling that Bangura’s campaign is steadily gaining traction as the race for APC’s 2028 flagbearer intensifies. Party insiders say the endorsement from Konomanyi could be pivotal in consolidating support across the region, further positioning Bangura as a leading contender.
