The Government of Sierra Leone has declared Wednesday, May 27, 2026, a nationwide public holiday in observance of the Feast of Eid-ul-Adha.
The announcement was made in a public notice issued from State House in Freetown on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
According to the notice, the general public is informed that the Feast of Eid-ul-Adha will be observed on Wednesday, with the day officially recognised as a public holiday across the country.
The declaration was issued under the authority of the Office of the President at State House, Tower Hill, Freetown.
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant religious celebrations observed by Muslims worldwide. The occasion commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.
