DIB Movement Rallies Women in Bombali as Grassroots Momentum Builds Ahead of APC Showdown

A powerful wave of mobilization swept through Makeni on March 30, 2026, as the Women’s Leader of the Dr Ibrahim Bangura Movement, Madam Ramatulai I. B. Kargbo, engaged women leaders across Bombali District in what has emerged as a strategic push to consolidate grassroots strength ahead of critical political contests.

The meeting brought together women constituency executives and former councillors from all eight constituencies in the district, marking a significant moment of alignment within one of the most influential blocs in the political structure.

Far from a routine gathering, the engagement reflected a calculated effort to position women at the centre of the movement’s political machinery, signalling a shift toward deeper inclusion and active participation in leadership processes.

In her keynote address, Madam Kargbo delivered a message that resonated strongly with her audience, emphasizing that the DIB Movement is not merely seeking the support of women but is deliberately building a framework that empowers them to lead.

She conveyed greetings from Dr Ibrahim Bangura and reiterated his commitment to advancing women’s leadership within the party and across the country, describing the approach as both intentional and transformative.

According to her, the movement has taken a bold and unprecedented step by placing women at the forefront of its campaign structures, entrusting them with key responsibilities in driving the bid for both the party’s flag-bearer position and the presidency.

She stressed that this strategy goes beyond symbolic representation, noting that women are being actively encouraged to contest for executive and delegate positions at every level, from wards to constituencies, districts, and regions.

The objective, she explained, is to ensure that the movement’s success translates into collective advancement, where women rise alongside the leadership and play decisive roles in shaping outcomes.

The atmosphere at the gathering was marked by optimism, determination, and a shared sense of purpose, as participants embraced the call for unity and discipline in the lead-up to the August 2026 National Delegates Conference in Port Loko.

Madam Kargbo urged the women to remain focused and committed, stressing that victory would depend not only on numbers but on cohesion, strategic coordination, and unwavering resolve.

Her message struck a chord with attendees, many of whom reaffirmed their dedication to the movement and pledged to sustain momentum through the internal party processes and beyond.

The meeting also underscored the growing recognition of women as a decisive force in political mobilization, particularly within party structures where their influence continues to expand.

As the race for leadership within the party intensifies, the ability to organise, unify, and deploy grassroots support is expected to play a critical role in determining outcomes.

With its latest engagement in Bombali, the DIB Movement appears to be positioning itself to harness that strength, leveraging the energy and commitment of women as a cornerstone of its broader political strategy.

The developments signal a rising momentum that could shape not only internal party dynamics but also the wider political landscape as the journey toward the next phase of leadership unfolds.
